This section explains how to start ScanGear from a terminal software and scan a document.

1. Place the document face-down on the platen glass.

2. Enter the following from the command line of a terminal software.

[user@zzz /yyyy]$ scangearmp

ScanGear is started and the [Basic Mode] tab is displayed.

If more than one ScanGear compatible products are connected, the [Select Scanner] dialog is displayed. Select a model you want to use and click [OK]. ScanGear is started.

3. Click [Preview].

 

The preview image is displayed in the preview area.

4. Configure setting items as required.

For details about how to adjust the image brightness and color, see the [Advanced Mode] tab.

 

5. Click [Scan].

The [Save Scan Image] dialog is displayed.

6. Select a file type from among "PNG," "PDF," and "PNM," specify the file name and directory, and then click [Save].

 

The scan is started and the scanned data is saved as a file.
