This section explains how to start ScanGear from GIMP and scan a document.

Only GIMP can start ScanGear. No other application can start ScanGear.

Ubuntu requires additional installation of GIMP.

1. Place the document face-down on the platen glass.

2. Select [Create] -> [ScanGear MP...] from the [File] menu in GIMP.

 

ScanGear is started and the [Basic Mode] tab is displayed.

If more than one ScanGear compatible products are connected, the [Select Scanner] dialog is displayed. Select a model you want to use and click [OK]. ScanGear is started.

If Ubuntu does not display [ScanGear MP...], first exit GIMP, execute the command below, and then restart GIMP.
[user@zzz /yyy]$ sudo ln -sf /usr/bin/scangearmp /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins

3. Click [Preview].

 

The preview image is displayed in the preview area.

4. Configure setting items as required.

5. Click [Scan].

The scanned data is displayed in the GIMP windows.
